Agriculture, Processing and Export Opportunities at UKAIS 2026

Explore agriculture, processing and export-led opportunities at the 16th UK–Africa Investment Summit, where bankable agro-industrial projects meet UK and Indian capital.

Africa grows the commodities. The world processes and resells. UKAIS 2026 is built to close that gap, with a dedicated plenary on Agribusiness, Food Systems and Value Addition, a country showcase across 16 priority markets, and a deal-ready Uganda pipeline drawn from the Uganda Investment Authority’s 7th Edition Bankable Projects Booklet.

The thesis is sharp. Agriculture employs over 60% of Africa’s workforce and contributes around 23% of sub-Saharan GDP, yet remains chronically underinvested. Roughly 40% of produce is lost between farm and market, and most strategic commodities leave the continent unprocessed. UKAIS 2026 moves that gap into capital deployment, off-take partnerships and structured matchmaking.

Case Studies: Verified, Government-Backed, Deal-Ready

Soluble Coffee Processing Factory, Mukono ($48.1M). Uganda has no existing soluble coffee plant. Robusta and Arabica run year-round. The retail margin moves from $1.87/kg green to $15/kg branded, anchored in Kampala Industrial Park.

Cocoa Processing Factory, Bundibugyo ($24.3M). One of Uganda’s ten strategic commodities under the Agro-Industrialisation agenda, with an established farmer base and export logistics aligned to European and Middle East buyers.

Luwero Fruit Processing Factory ($9.7M). Uganda is Africa’s second-largest fresh fruit producer. The plant captures EAC, COMESA and AfCFTA market access for processed fruit, juice concentrates and pulps.

Lira Spinning Mill ($44.3M). Uganda processes less than 10% of its cotton. The mill targets the high-margin route from raw fibre to garment-ready yarn, with offtake potential into Indian and East African textile manufacturers.

Acholibur Cassava Processing Factory, Pader ($16.5M). A dual-revenue greenfield project producing food-grade starch and fuel ethanol for export, anchoring Northern Uganda as a regional food hub.

Busoga Sugar Processing Factory ($37.8M) and Cattle Feed and Supplement Manufacturing, Nakasongola ($10M). Sugar with EAC market access. Feed positioned against 12.8% CAGR in livestock demand to 2030, 14.5 million head of cattle, and a China export-ready route. Each project is government-facilitated, PPP or JV structured, and supported by Uganda Investment Authority’s end-to-end investor services.

Export Opportunities Across Africa’s Priority Markets

The summit’s 16 Priority Investment Destinations showcase places agribusiness at the centre of the country pipelines. Ghana brings cocoa and agri, Nigeria agriculture and food systems, Côte d’Ivoire cocoa, Senegal agribusiness, Kenya agribusiness and agri-tech, Ethiopia agro-processing and industrial parks, with Zambia and DR Congo presenting agricultural pipelines. Each market arrives with sector authorities and project sponsors ready to engage.

The export logic runs through AfCFTA, EAC and COMESA frameworks, plus the UK–India–Africa corridor. UK Export Finance, British International Investment, and Indian off-takers will engage directly with project sponsors on processing-led exports, branded consumer goods, and industrial inputs.

Join UK–Africa Investment Summit 2026 to access verified projects, ministry contacts, and the export-led pipeline shaping Africa’s next industrial decade.
