Uganda is open for business! Ambassador Madhvani highlights investment opportunities in agriculture, tourism & more at the #UKAfricaSummit 🌍💼

The UK-Africa Trade Summit concluded with a strong focus on East Africa’s role in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. Saudi Commercial Attaché Abdullah Almasoud discussed key investments in tourism, renewable energy, and services that will fuel regional development.

In a powerful closing address at the 14th UK-Africa Trade Summit, Uganda's High Commissioner to the UK and Northern Ireland, Ambassador Nimisha Jayant Madhvani, underscored Uganda’s growing investment potential. Her remarks centered on the country’s stability, agricultural wealth, tourism sector, and mining opportunities, inviting UK investors to explore these vibrant sectors.

Uganda’s Stability: A Pillar for Investment

Opening her address, Ambassador Madhvani praised Uganda’s political stability under the leadership of President Yoweri Museveni, describing the nation as “one of the safest in the world.” She highlighted the professionalism and friendliness of Uganda’s police force, positioning stable governance as a cornerstone for attracting foreign investment. “Uganda is open to the world for investment. Under the visionary leadership of President Museveni, we are enjoying stability, which is crucial for those looking to invest,” she said.

Agricultural Wealth: A Land of Organic Abundance

Ambassador Madhvani emphasized Uganda’s rich agricultural sector, renowned for its organic produce. She spotlighted products like coffee, honey, macadamia nuts, pineapples, and avocados, which are grown organically and recognized for their high quality. “Uganda’s agricultural products are of the highest quality—organically grown and exceptionally healthy,” she remarked, adding that Uganda’s freshwater fish, particularly tilapia, is celebrated for its low cholesterol content.

The ambassador expressed optimism about securing a duty-free, quota-free trade agreement with the UK, similar to Uganda’s existing arrangement with the European Union. Such an agreement would boost Uganda’s agricultural exports to the UK, expanding market opportunities for both nations.

Tourism: Uganda, Heaven on Earth

Promoting Uganda’s tourism sector, Ambassador Madhvani invited the audience to experience Uganda’s natural beauty, describing it as “Heaven on Earth”. She highlighted Uganda’s stunning national parks and mountain gorillas, calling them unique attractions that draw visitors from around the world. With visas issued in just two days, she encouraged UK tourists to explore Uganda’s breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife. “We invite you all to visit,” she said enthusiastically.

Mining and Future Opportunities

Ambassador Madhvani concluded her address by spotlighting mining as an emerging sector ripe for investment. She referenced representatives from Uganda present at the summit who are eager to collaborate with international investors. Uganda, she noted, has untapped mineral resources and is poised to become a significant player in the global mining industry.

A Hopeful Outlook for UK-Uganda Relations

Ambassador Madhvani’s closing remarks conveyed a hopeful vision for the future of UK-Uganda relations, emphasizing continued collaboration in trade and investment. She concluded with a resounding call for partnership: “For God and my country,” reminding the audience that Uganda is ready for business, tourism, and international partnerships.
