Nexus Green Limited, a UK-headquartered renewable energy infrastructure company, has confirmed that its Chief Executive and Founder, Hon. Rikki Verma, will join the speaker line-up for the UK–Africa Investment Summit 2026. Verma brings an execution-led perspective to the forum, focused on connecting global capital with Africa’s industrial energy demand.
Hon. Rikki Verma will take part in a panel dedicated to the renewable energy sector, addressing the theme of clean energy generation and grid resilience.
A panel built around clean power and grid resilience
The panel will examine the commercial pathways shaping the continent’s energy future:
- Clean energy generation and grid resilience. Scaling power capacity, diversifying the energy mix, and securing long-term national energy security.
- Utility-scale and renewable energy. Deploying utility-scale solar, commercial solar, and integrating renewable sources to accelerate a cleaner transition.
- Off-grid and rural electrification. Scaling mini-grids and battery storage systems, and broadening energy access for rural communities and SMEs.
- Grid infrastructure and security. Expanding national grids, strengthening resilience, launching independent power projects, and enabling regional cross-border energy trade.
“The conversation must move beyond basic energy access to driving industrial production.”
“Joining the UK–Africa Investment Summit 2026 as a speaker allows us to actively shape the dialogue around Africa’s energy transition,” said Hon. Rikki Verma. “The conversation must move beyond basic energy access to driving industrial production. We look forward to connecting global finance partners and UK expertise with scalable, bankable projects that yield measurable economic and social impact.”
A senior line-up of global leaders
Hon. Rikki Verma will share the stage with policymakers, financial leaders, legal experts, and corporate executives driving bilateral growth. Other speakers joining the summit include:
- Dr. Ramathan Ggoobi, Permanent Secretary and Secretary to Treasury, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Uganda
- Lord Dolar Popat, businessman and Conservative life peer, House of Lords, UK
- Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Uganda
- Irene T. Kauma, Undersecretary and Senior Private Secretary to the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Government of Uganda
- Hefin Rees KC, Senior Barrister, 3 Verulam Buildings (3VB)
- Lars Peter Jensen, Country Manager, Colas Uganda
Nexus Green’s deepening footprint in Uganda
Verma, who began his entrepreneurial career at 17, founded Nexus Green after identifying the need for reliable, affordable, and scalable energy solutions across East Africa. Under his leadership, the company has grown into one of the region’s leading solar engineering, procurement, and construction firms, delivering turnkey solutions from design through to long-term monitoring.
The company’s work in Uganda anchors its commitment to the country’s green growth agenda:
- €101 million solar irrigation project. Working with the Ugandan government and supported by UK Export Finance, Nexus Green raised €101 million to deliver clean-energy water irrigation systems. The initiative has strengthened agricultural productivity and climate resilience for thousands of smallholders and SMEs.
- Local manufacturing and job creation. Nexus Green is advancing plans for a solar manufacturing and assembly facility in Uganda. The plant will produce solar panels and solar irrigation water pumps locally, creating skilled jobs, building technical capacity, and reducing reliance on imported hardware.
Nexus Green’s localised, asset-heavy industrial strategy mirrors the summit’s core theme. The aim is to move energy investment beyond access and into domestic manufacturing, value addition, and regional economic self-reliance.
Uganda–UK Mining Week 2026
The summit will also host the Uganda–UK Mining Week 2026, a dedicated parallel sector programme. Held at The Royal Horseguards Hotel & One Whitehall Place in London, the forum connects investors, financiers, and technical experts with Uganda’s critical minerals pipeline, including rare earths, graphite, copper, and cobalt.
The programme focuses on the commercial conditions required to advance projects into financeable, ESG-compliant, and infrastructure-linked processing platforms. Its emphasis on local value addition, beneficiation, and industrial infrastructure mirrors Nexus Green’s own asset-heavy industrial strategy aimed at regional economic self-reliance.
