The 15th UK–Africa Business, Trade & Investment Summit welcomes Richard Moir, Deputy Chair of the International Trade Committee at the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), as a featured speaker this September in London.

Richard Moir will spotlight LCCI’s strategic mission: helping UK businesses access and thrive in African markets, especially across East Africa. His keynote will focus on removing barriers to trade, advocating for more predictable and low-risk market access, and empowering UK SMEs through chamber-to-chamber collaboration, trade policy advocacy, and actionable market intelligence.

A strong advocate for a balanced, two-way approach, Moir has long pushed for more African-led research and regional ownership in shaping trade agendas. “We need to encourage research that emanates from Africa, giving a completely different perspective on how trade should be conducted,” he stated at last year’s summit. He highlighted Africa’s journey from the “hopeless continent” to a region of promise and realism, challenging outdated Western perceptions.

Moir also stresses the need for robust financial and insurance services to support international trade. He calls for greater development of indigenous African insurance solutions and believes banks and insurance must work together to enable global commerce: “Without insurance, you can’t trade.”

His remarks will align with the summit’s vision of deeper UK–Africa partnerships and innovative, Africa-driven trade solutions, ensuring that future growth is both sustainable and inclusive.

Join Richard Moir and leading voices in trade at the UK–Africa Business Summit 2025 to help shape a new era of UK–Africa partnership.
