London, UK – June 2025 — The UK–Africa Business, Trade & Investment Summit 2025, the UK’s longest-running and most influential platform for Africa-focused economic engagement, proudly announces that Richard Moir, Deputy Chair of the International Trade Committee and Vice President at the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), will return as a key speaker at its 15th edition.

Scheduled for Friday, 12 September 2025, at the Royal Horseguards Hotel & One Whitehall Place, this year’s summit will welcome over 500 high-level attendees, including heads of state, CEOs, investors, policy experts, and trade delegates.

A Voice for African-Led Trade, Research, and Innovation

At the 2024 summit, Richard Moir delivered a powerful message on the importance of African-led trade research and indigenous insurance ecosystems. He challenged international stakeholders to pivot from donor dependency toward self-determined, locally contextualised trade policy frameworks that reflect Africa’s dynamic, diverse economies.

“Africa’s trade frameworks should be built on African research, by African economists, with African realities in mind,” Moir emphasized in his widely shared 2024 address.

He also advocated for expanding homegrown insurance models—developed within and for African markets—to protect and empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which make up the backbone of most African economies.

As Deputy Chair of the UK Parliament’s International Trade Committee, Moir is closely involved in advising on UK trade agreements, export financing, investment readiness, and regulatory alignment. His influence is instrumental in shaping policy that encourages ethical, mutually beneficial trade with Africa.

Summit Focus: Building Sustainable Trade Pathways

At the 2025 summit, Moir will speak on:

  • The role of local research institutions in shaping effective, adaptable trade policy
  • The need for indigenous insurance and risk financing frameworks tailored to African enterprises
  • Strategies to ensure UK trade policy alignment supports sustainable, Africa-first growth
  • Opportunities for Chambers of Commerce to support diaspora-led and SME-driven exports

This aligns with the summit’s core themes of empowering regional economic ecosystems, de-risking trade finance, and advancing sector-specific investment flows.
