Christine Mwebesa to Speak at UK–Africa Summit

Christine Charity Mwebesa, Special Presidential Assistant for Economic Affairs, will join the 15th UK–Africa Business, Trade & Investment Summit 2025 on 12 September in London. With 29 years in public service and a strong academic background, she will speak on “Strengthening Value Chains through Strategic Partnerships,” offering insights on how Africa can transform raw materials into globally competitive products through effective collaboration. Uganda presents a dynamic landscape for partnership, with abundant natural resources, a youthful and growing population, and an increasingly stable macroeconomic environment. The country’s Vision 2040 agenda and ongoing investment in infrastructure, agro-industrialisation, and digital transformation create fertile ground for public-private partnerships. Opportunities abound in sectors such as renewable energy, agribusiness, tourism, education, and health, where value addition and technology transfer are especially needed. With its strategic location in East Africa and active participation in regional blocs like the EAC and AfCFTA, Uganda offers partners not just access to local markets, but a gateway to the broader African economy.

**Excerpt**

As Uganda accelerates its transition from resource extraction to industrial value creation, Memnon Capital Africa has joined the UK–Africa Investment Summit 2026 as a Strategic Partner and Sponsor of Uganda–UK Mining Week 2026.

Led by Chairman and Co-Founder Dr Elly W. Karuhanga, Memnon Capital Africa brings a disciplined investment approach focused on transforming East Africa’s energy, mining and agricultural opportunities into institution-grade, bankable projects. The firm’s participation comes at a pivotal moment for Uganda’s mining sector, which is benefiting from major regulatory reforms, a nationwide geological survey, growing critical minerals demand, and a national push towards beneficiation and downstream processing.

At Uganda–UK Mining Week 2026, Memnon Capital Africa will contribute its expertise in capital formation, project development, governance, and investment structuring as industry leaders, policymakers, financiers and investors gather in London to explore how Uganda can convert its vast mineral resources into long-term industrial growth, competitive returns and sustainable economic transformation.
