Hon. Sanjay Tanna (TBC)

Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Republic of Uganda
Hon. Sanjay Tanna Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Republic of Uganda Hon. Sanjay Tanna is Uganda’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. He brings to Cabinet a strong private-sector background, political experience and a practical understanding of commerce, enterprise development and regional trade. A respected businessman and former Member of Parliament for Tororo Municipality, Hon. Tanna leads one of Uganda’s most strategically important economic portfolios at a time when the country is focused on industrialisation, export growth, manufacturing competitiveness, value addition and private-sector-led transformation. His ministry is central to Uganda’s drive to connect production, processing and markets. This includes strengthening local manufacturing, supporting cooperative development, expanding trade opportunities, improving industrial competitiveness and helping Ugandan enterprises become more export-ready. For UK investors, Hon. Tanna’s contribution is especially relevant because Uganda’s investment opportunity is no longer only about access to raw materials or domestic demand. It is increasingly about building production platforms that can serve regional, continental and international markets. His leadership provides insight into how Uganda intends to strengthen trade facilitation, industrial policy, value-chain development, export readiness and partnerships with serious international investors. At UKAIS 2026, Hon. Tanna’s participation will add strategic weight to discussions on trade corridors, industrial platforms, mineral beneficiation, agro-processing, manufacturing, cooperatives and export-led growth. His perspective will help frame how Uganda can move from resource access to production, processing and market expansion, while creating jobs, strengthening enterprise capacity and attracting long-term industrial capital.
