Mr Nick Oliver
Managing Director, Globespan Infrastructure Ltd
Former Joint Chair, Department for Business and Trade’s Africa Infrastructure Board
Mr Nick Oliver is Managing Director of Globespan Infrastructure Ltd, a UK-based infrastructure company established to structure and deliver national infrastructure projects across Africa. The company was founded as an export-focused business and is currently involved in structuring and delivering significant infrastructure programmes on the continent.
Nick has more than 25 years’ experience in business development across Africa and the Far East. He has generated significant exports for Britain and is recognised as a procurement and funding specialist with deep experience in structuring and delivering complex international projects.
He recently retired as Joint Chair of the Department for Business and Trade’s Africa Infrastructure Board, having served in the role for many years. This experience gives him a strong understanding of UK export capability, government-to-government engagement, infrastructure finance, project delivery and the commercial requirements needed to move major projects from concept to execution.
Before his infrastructure career, Nick spent 20 years as a serving and reserve officer in the British Army with The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. He passed out from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where he won the Sword of Honour for his entry. He is also Founder and Trustee of the Waterloo Military Families Fund, which raises funds for the families of British military casualties, and Chair of the South of England Branch of his regiment’s Veterans Association.
At UKAIS 2026, Nick will speak on the infrastructure panel, bringing practical insight into how African infrastructure projects can be structured, funded and delivered. His contribution will be relevant to discussions on project preparation, export finance, procurement, public-private partnerships, risk allocation, delivery capability and the infrastructure platforms required to support industrialisation and trade corridor execution.
His participation aligns with the Summit theme, Trade Corridors and Industrial Platforms: From Access to Production, and the wider UKAIS focus on connecting UK expertise, African project pipelines and long-term capital to executable infrastructure opportunities.
