Mrs. Olive Z. Kigongo

President, The Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Olive Z. Kigongo is the President of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI), Uganda’s national private-sector chamber and one of the country’s longest-standing business institutions. UNCCI describes itself as a nationwide umbrella organisation for the private sector, with a paid-up membership of 5,000, a potential membership base exceeding 100,000, 10 regional offices, and more than 80 district branch networks across Uganda.

A respected Ugandan business leader and entrepreneur, Olive Kigongo was elected as the first woman President of UNCCI in 2002. She is also listed as a member of the East African Chambers of Commerce and Industry board, where she has been recognised as one of its longest-serving members.

Through UNCCI, she has played a central role in promoting entrepreneurship, trade, manufacturing, industry, job creation and private-sector advocacy in Uganda. The Chamber works with national, regional and international institutions to expand opportunities for Ugandan companies locally, regionally and internationally.

UNCCI was also a partner in the recent UK–India–Uganda Multi-Sectoral Trade Mission to Uganda in February 2026, supporting the mission’s wider objective of strengthening trade, investment and business partnerships between Uganda, the UK and India.

For UKAIS 2026, Olive brings deep private-sector insight into Uganda’s business environment, SME growth, chamber diplomacy, B2B engagement, investment promotion and the role of organised business in turning policy ambition into commercial partnerships.

Her contribution aligns strongly with the summit’s focus on market access, private-sector mobilisation, trade facilitation, investment readiness, industrial platforms and UK–Uganda commercial partnerships. Her presence would help connect investors, government stakeholders and business leaders with Uganda’s domestic enterprise base and the wider East African business network.
