Suresh Yadav Senior Director, Climate Change and Oceans Directorate The Commonwealth Secretariat

Suresh Yadav is Senior Director of the Climate Change and Oceans Directorate at the Commonwealth Secretariat, based at Marlborough House in London.

He leads work across climate change, oceans, climate finance, resilience and sustainable development, supporting Commonwealth member countries to respond to the economic, environmental and development impacts of climate change.

Through his role, he works with governments, development partners and technical institutions to strengthen access to climate finance, improve climate policy implementation, support vulnerable states and advance practical solutions for adaptation, mitigation and ocean sustainability.

Suresh is closely associated with the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub, a flagship mechanism that supports small and vulnerable member countries to develop climate finance proposals, build institutional capacity and unlock investment for resilience, adaptation and sustainable development.

His work sits at the intersection of climate diplomacy, finance mobilisation, oceans governance, data-driven policy and sustainable economic transformation. He brings a strong Commonwealth perspective on how countries can move from climate commitments to bankable projects, stronger partnerships and practical implementation.

At UKAIS 2026, Suresh Yadav’s contribution will add strategic depth to discussions on climate finance, sustainable investment, ocean resilience, green growth and the role of Commonwealth cooperation in helping African countries attract credible capital for climate-resilient development.
