The 15th UK–Africa Business, Trade & Investment Summit 2025 concluded in London, marking a pivotal moment in advancing sustainable economic cooperation between the United Kingdom, Africa, and the global diaspora.

Hosted by Promota Africa Ltd under the leadership of Mr. Willy Mutenza, the two-day event convened ministers, ambassadors, corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, and development partners for high-level discussions on trade, policy, and investment.

💼 Highlights from the 2025 Summit

1️⃣ Strategic Trade Partnerships

Bilateral discussions reaffirmed the UK’s growing collaboration with African markets — particularly Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and Rwanda — with trade envoys and government representatives committing to deepen cooperation in agriculture, renewable energy, manufacturing, and services. Several MoUs were announced focusing on export diversification and sustainable logistics corridors connecting East and West Africa.

2️⃣ Investment Frontiers

Themed sessions positioned Africa as the world’s next frontier for responsible, high-return investment. Key sectors included agro-industrialisation, tourism, minerals, infrastructure, fintech, and renewable energy. Case studies from Uganda’s Namukekera Industrial Park and Kenya’s Special Economic Zones showcased scalable models for inclusive growth. British investors and DFIs expressed strong interest in co-developing green manufacturing and digital finance ventures.

3️⃣ Policy & Innovation Dialogue

Distinguished speakers including Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, Prof. Luis Franceschi, Lord Dolar Popat, and Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba delivered powerful insights on rule-based investment frameworks, education reform, and digital inclusion. Collectively, they called for governance transparency, regional harmonisation, and innovation-led policy as cornerstones of Africa’s economic renewal.

4️⃣ Diaspora Engagement

The African and Ugandan diaspora in the UK—now numbering over 200,000—emerged as a central driver of transformation. Delegates were encouraged to shift from remittance-based contributions to equity participation and entrepreneurship. New initiatives were unveiled to simplify dual citizenship, facilitate business registration, and support diaspora-led infrastructure projects. Uganda Airlines’ newly launched London–Entebbe direct flight was celebrated as a milestone for tourism, trade, and connectivity.
